Every so often, a game trailer comes along that makes you stop scrolling.

For us at Morganyte, that game is STARDUST: Wish of Witch. I just saw this trailer on YouTube and had to do my homework and wishlist it.

On October 13, publisher Silver Lining Interactive released a console announcement trailer for the fantasy strategy RPG, confirming that the game is coming to PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 in Q1 2027.

Developed by South Korean studio Kniv Studio, STARDUST: Wish of Witch originally launched on PC through Steam on May 28, 2026\.

The upcoming console versions will be available digitally and physically, with the physical edition including the official soundtrack. Preorders are already available through Silver Lining Interactive's online store.

That's the announcement. Now, can we talk about how beautiful this game looks?

## A Fantasy Adventure About a Star That Grants Wishes

At the center of STARDUST: Wish of Witch are two childhood friends: Star, an energetic young warrior, and Yu, a mage.

Their adventure revolves around the mystery of a wish-granting star, with forgotten magic, competing factions, and questions about fate shaping the journey.

Star dreams of becoming a hero, while Yu provides a quieter counterpart to her personality. Together, they travel through a fantasy world and encounter companions who become part of their story.

It's a premise that feels immediately familiar to anyone who grew up with traditional Japanese-style RPGs. Two young protagonists leave home, a seemingly simple adventure becomes something larger, and an extraordinary power lies at the center of the conflict.

There's something comforting about that structure.

But the appeal here isn't simply nostalgia. It's the way Kniv Studio presents that familiar foundation through its artwork and combat systems.

## Seriously, Look at This Pixel Art

The visual presentation is what initially caught our attention.

STARDUST: Wish of Witch combines detailed character sprites with animated environments, cinematic framing, and elaborate combat effects. Rather than using pixel art as a purely nostalgic aesthetic, the game appears to treat it as the foundation for a highly expressive fantasy world.

Character animations are particularly important here. The developer emphasizes fully animated sprites and special 2D sequences that accompany powerful abilities.

That distinction matters a lot for me.

A beautiful screenshot can get someone interested in a game, but animation is what can make a pixel-art world feel alive. Characters need personality in the way they move, attacks need impact, and the environments need enough visual detail to feel like places worth exploring.

From its promotional footage, STARDUST seems deeply invested in that presentation.

There's an almost storybook quality to the combination of colorful characters, magical effects, and detailed environments. The game looks like the sort of fantasy adventure where you'd want to linger in a town just to admire the scenery.

Of course, visual appeal alone doesn't tell us how well a game plays. But as a first impression, the artwork makes a compelling argument for paying attention.

## Traditional Strategy RPG Combat With Cards, Counters, and Combos

Thankfully, STARDUST: Wish of Witch has more going on than attractive sprites.

The game is a single-player, turn-based strategy RPG built around tactical positioning and character abilities.

Its combat incorporates a card system that expands the choices available during battles, alongside counters and combos that reward players for anticipating enemy actions.

According to the developer, battles are designed around reading opponents and responding strategically rather than simply choosing the strongest attack every turn.

The game also features character-specific abilities, party-building, and animated ultimate skills.

These mechanics give STARDUST an interesting identity within the strategy RPG genre. Card-based combat introduces another layer of decision-making, while counters and combos suggest that timing and the relationship between actions matter alongside positioning.

The real question is how well those systems interact over a lengthy campaign.

Does the card system encourage experimentation? Do counters reward careful planning? Can different party compositions meaningfully change the way battles unfold?

Those are the kinds of questions we'd love to explore in a hands-on review.

For now, the game's feature descriptions suggest an attempt to build on classic tactical RPG mechanics rather than simply reproduce them.

## STARDUST Is Already Available on PC, and There's a Free Demo

One important detail about the console announcement is that STARDUST: Wish of Witch isn't an entirely unreleased project.

The game launched on Steam in May 2026, giving PC players several months to experience it before the upcoming console versions arrive.

Its Steam page currently carries a Very Positive overall user-review rating, with roughly four out of five reviews positive at the time checked. That's a useful sign of its reception, though user reviews are not a substitute for our own assessment.

Kniv Studio has also continued supporting the PC release.

In July, the developer expanded the free demo to include Chapter 1, allowing prospective players to experience more of the story and additional tactical battles before purchasing the full game.

The studio also released a free DLC titled Sword of Judgment in July.

That makes the PC version particularly appealing for anyone who sees the new trailer and doesn't want to wait until 2027.

## PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2 Versions Arrive in Early 2027

The new console announcement gives STARDUST another opportunity to reach players who prefer experiencing RPGs on a television or handheld system.

Silver Lining Interactive and Kniv Studio are targeting the first quarter of 2027, although an exact launch date has not been announced.

Both PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 versions are planned, with digital and physical releases.

The physical edition is set to include the game's official soundtrack, making it a potentially appealing option for collectors who enjoy owning boxed indie RPGs.

The announcement has not established a final release date or all regional retail details, so prospective buyers should consult the publisher's store for current preorder information.

## Why We're Giving STARDUST an Unsolicited Shoutout

We weren't contacted by the developer or publisher about STARDUST: Wish of Witch.

Nobody sent us a review key. This isn't a sponsored post or part of a promotional arrangement.

We simply came across the console announcement trailer on YouTube, watched the footage, and thought this was a game worth sharing.

That's part of what makes covering indie games exciting.

There are countless projects competing for attention, and some of the most visually interesting games aren't necessarily the ones dominating gaming conversations.

STARDUST caught our attention because it appears to understand something we love about fantasy RPGs: the sense that you're stepping into a world somebody genuinely enjoyed creating.

Its artwork is vibrant, its character animations are expressive, and its premise promises a journey built around friendship, magic, and the mystery of a wish-granting star.

We're particularly interested in seeing how its tactical combat develops beyond the footage shown in the trailer.

The card system, counters, and combos could give it an engaging mechanical identity, while the character-driven story provides another reason to stay invested.

We're not ready to call it a hidden gem without playing it ourselves. But we're absolutely comfortable saying that STARDUST: Wish of Witch has earned a place on our radar.

And if you love pixel-art fantasy adventures and strategy RPGs, it might deserve a place on yours, too.

STARDUST: Wish of Witch is available now on PC through Steam, with PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 versions planned for Q1 2027.
