JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run has claimed the top spot in Tokyo Otaku Mode's fall 2026 anime merchandise demand forecast, but Tokyo Revengers is catching up.

Published October 14, the latest Global Otaku Report from Tokyo Otaku Mode's research division examines 31 anime productions and estimates their potential demand for character merchandise.

Steel Ball Run leads with a score of 90.4, followed by Tokyo Revengers: Three Deities War Arc at 85.6\. The difference between the two has narrowed considerably since the previous assessment in August.

Other prominent titles include Made in Abyss, Ranma 1/2, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, and Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dear Friend.

These scores are proprietary merchandise-demand indicators, not television ratings, streaming viewership figures, or confirmed merchandise sales. The underlying observations were taken on September 11, ahead of the report's October publication.

## Steel Ball Run Leads the Fall Anime Merchandise Ranking

The top six productions show a competitive mix of established franchises, returning series, and highly anticipated projects.

| Rank | Anime | Demand Score |
| ------- | ---------------------------------------- | ------------ |
| 1 | JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run | 90.4 |
| 2 | Tokyo Revengers: Three Deities War Arc | 85.6 |
| 3 | Made in Abyss: Awakening Mystery | 76.8 |
| 4 | Ranma 1/2 Season 3 | 73.2 |
| 5 (tie) | Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 | 65.9 |
| 5 (tie) | Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dear Friend | 65.9 |

Source: Tokyo Otaku Mode Research Institute, Global Otaku Report Vol.202610\. Scores are proprietary relative indicators of anticipated merchandise demand, measured September 11, 2026\. They are not sales totals or viewership ratings.

Steel Ball Run holds a 4.8-point advantage over Tokyo Revengers, while Made in Abyss sits a further 8.8 points behind.

The ranking suggests that merchandise interest is concentrated around several major franchises, although the scores alone cannot establish how many products fans will ultimately purchase.

## Tokyo Revengers Is Closing the Gap

The biggest development at the top of the ranking is the improvement of Tokyo Revengers: Three Deities War Arc.

In Tokyo Otaku Mode's August 10 assessment, Steel Ball Run led Tokyo Revengers by 10.9 points.

By September 11, that gap had narrowed to 4.8 points, with Tokyo Revengers gaining 3.9 points over the intervening period.

That is a meaningful change within the company's forecasting model.

It indicates that Tokyo Revengers was gaining relative momentum in the indicators being tracked, even though Steel Ball Run retained the overall lead.

The results do not establish that Tokyo Revengers merchandise sales increased by 3.9%, nor do they mean that the two franchises have nearly identical sales figures. The numbers represent changes in the report's demand index.

## Made in Abyss, Ranma 1/2, and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 Round Out the Leaders

The next four entries demonstrate how widely merchandise interest can extend across different anime genres.

Made in Abyss places third with a score of 76.8 for Awakening Mystery. The franchise's distinctive character designs and fantasy setting make it a recognizable presence in anime merchandise.

Ranma 1/2 Season 3 follows with 73.2, placing the long-running comedy franchise ahead of several newer properties.

Meanwhile, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 and Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dear Friend share fifth place at 65.9.

The tie is particularly interesting because the two franchises appeal to different audiences. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is associated with a science-fiction gaming universe, while the Rascal Does Not Dream series is known for its character-driven supernatural drama.

Their matching scores do not imply identical fan bases or purchasing habits. They simply received the same result under Tokyo Otaku Mode's model.

## Junket Bank Records the Biggest Gain Outside the Top Six

The report also highlights titles whose demand forecasts increased sharply between August and September.

Although they did not reach the top six, three productions recorded notable improvements.

Rising Merchandise Interest

### Biggest Forecast Gains

**Junket Bank** Largest reported increase

**+18.3**

**Chitose Is in the Ramune Bottle Season 2**

**+9.2**

**Magic Knight Rayearth**

**+4.3**

Changes in demand-index points between August 10 and September 11, 2026\. These are not percentage increases.

Junket Bank stands out with an 18.3-point increase, substantially higher than the gains recorded by the other two titles.

Chitose Is in the Ramune Bottle Season 2 gained 9.2 points, while the new Magic Knight Rayearth project rose 4.3 points.

These increases suggest growing interest according to Tokyo Otaku Mode's tracked indicators, but the report does not identify a single confirmed cause for each change.

## How Tokyo Otaku Mode Measures Anime Merchandise Demand

The research was conducted by Tokyo Otaku Mode's internal research division, which publishes the monthly Global Otaku Report.

For its October 2026 edition, the company examined 31 anime productions associated with the fall season.

Its merchandise-demand forecast uses a proprietary calculation based on publicly observable indicators monitored over time.

The company describes the resulting scores as relative measures of anticipated demand. It does not publish a complete mathematical formula in the press announcement.

That distinction is essential when interpreting the ranking.

A score of 90.4 for Steel Ball Run does not mean 90.4% of anime fans intend to buy its merchandise. Likewise, a higher score does not guarantee higher future sales.

The forecast is designed to help merchandise businesses evaluate potential demand ahead of purchasing, production, and licensing decisions.

The report also contains separate sections based on Tokyo Otaku Mode's actual sales data. Those sales-based analyses should not be confused with the forecast ranking.

## The Full Global Otaku Report Covers More Than Anime Rankings

Tokyo Otaku Mode released a free six-page digest of Global Otaku Report Vol.202610 on October 14.

Beyond the fall anime forecast, the digest includes information about rapidly growing intellectual properties, popular merchandise categories, and average product prices across 31 properties.

The complete commercial report runs approximately 70 pages and covers additional topics such as figure preorders, collaborations, secondary-market pricing, streaming trends, and regional merchandise sales.

Readers interested in the underlying research can access the free digest through the [Global Otaku Report website](https://ja.otakumode.com/pages/globalotakureport?ref=morganyte.com).

## What the Forecast Means for Anime Fans

For fans, the ranking offers a look at which anime properties may attract the strongest merchandise attention as the season develops.

Steel Ball Run currently leads the forecast, but the rapid improvement of Tokyo Revengers shows that anticipated demand can shift significantly over a relatively short period.

Meanwhile, Junket Bank's sharp increase suggests that titles outside the highest-ranked group are worth watching as well.

The more meaningful test will come as actual merchandise products reach the market and retailers begin collecting sales data.

Until then, Tokyo Otaku Mode's October report provides a snapshot of anticipated merchandise demand, not a definitive ranking of the season's most-watched or most-popular anime.
