If you've ever wanted to explore a colorful fantasy world, collect adorable creatures, and team up with friends without worrying about gacha pulls, *World of Slime* might be worth adding to your Steam library.

South Korean developer TEAM42 has released a major update for the playable demo of World of Slime, its upcoming cozy creature-collecting MMORPG.

The update introduces a new Korean-inspired region, additional quests, and two new slime types just ahead of Steam Next Fest, which runs October 19–26, 2026.

Seriously, what a cute game.

The developer also reports that the game has surpassed 30,000 Steam wishlists, a milestone TEAM42 says it achieved without a large-scale marketing campaign.

With a playable demo already available on Steam and a PC and mobile launch planned for December, *World of Slime* is looking to attract players who prefer exploration, cooperation, and creature collecting over competitive progression.

## Explore Noecheon Village, a New Korean-Inspired Region

The biggest addition to the latest demo update is **Noecheon Village**, a new region inspired by traditional Korean villages.

Rather than simply expanding the map, TEAM42 has populated the area with new quests and opportunities for discovery. The village features architecture and environmental details influenced by Korean culture, giving players a different setting to explore as they continue their adventures.

The surrounding fields also introduce an environmental twist: frequent lightning strikes.

That detail ties into the arrival of Electric and Wind Slimes, two new creature types that expand the game's collection and synthesis systems.

For players who enjoy experimenting with creature combinations, the new additions mean more possibilities to discover. TEAM42 says the update is designed to offer something worthwhile to both returning demo players and newcomers arriving during Steam Next Fest.

## A Creature-Collecting MMORPG Without Gacha

One of *World of Slime's* most interesting features is its approach to collecting creatures.

TEAM42 says every slime can be obtained through capturing or synthesis rather than randomized gacha purchases.

Instead of purchasing chances to obtain a particular creature, players explore the world, discover new slime types, and experiment with combinations to expand their collections.

Each slime has its own appearance, animations, and special abilities, encouraging players to build a roster that suits their preferred approach to exploration and combat.

The developer describes *World of Slime* as a laid-back MMORPG, emphasizing discovery and cooperative play rather than competition or a constant race to become stronger.

Players can travel through the world at their own pace, encounter other adventurers, and form parties to complete quests or battle larger monsters.

That cooperative element could help distinguish *World of Slime* from more traditional single-player creature collectors. Rather than simply building a powerful team for yourself, the game encourages players to bring their collections into shared adventures.

### What About Monetization?

Although TEAM42 is promoting *World of Slime* as gacha-free, that doesn't mean the game will have no paid items.

The developer says it plans to monetize through convenience features, including items such as town return scrolls, alongside character customization skins.

The distinction matters. While avoiding randomized purchases is appealing, the impact of paid convenience items will depend on how they're implemented in the finished game.

For now, the developer's stated approach places creature acquisition within gameplay rather than behind randomized purchases.

## World of Slime Passes 30,000 Steam Wishlists

TEAM42 also shared an early milestone for its upcoming MMORPG.

According to the developer, *World of Slime* has exceeded 30,000 Steam wishlists, primarily through word of mouth rather than a major advertising campaign.

The game's PC demo first became available in August 2026, and TEAM42 says it has continued releasing bug fixes and updates since then.

The studio also reports that some players have returned repeatedly to the demo and remained active in community discussions.

While wishlist numbers don't guarantee commercial success, the milestone suggests that the game's combination of cozy exploration, multiplayer adventures, and creature collecting is finding an audience ahead of launch.

## When Can You Play World of Slime?

The good news is that you don't have to wait until Steam Next Fest to try it.

World of Slime's PC demo is available now on Steam, with the new region and slime types included in its latest update.

The game is scheduled to participate in Steam Next Fest from October 19 through October 26, 2026.

TEAM42 is also planning to open mobile pre-registration in November, followed by a simultaneous PC and mobile launch in December 2026\. Those release plans remain subject to change.

The game is expected to support 18 languages, including English, Korean, Japanese, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, and several others.

For fans of cozy games, monster collecting, or multiplayer adventures that don't revolve around competitive progression, *World of Slime* is one to keep an eye on.

Its gacha-free collection system is an interesting selling point, but the real test will be whether capturing, synthesizing, and adventuring alongside friends remain rewarding over the long term.
