Phantom Echoes places the Seven Shadows at the center of the action as they continue their secret war against the Cult of Diablos. Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, Epsilon, Zeta and Eta will all appear, though Aiming has not confirmed whether every member will be playable.
The trailer focuses heavily on Alpha’s swordplay while showing the game’s randomized upgrades. Players will select new effects during each run, such as wider attack ranges or the ability to recover health after defeating an enemy. Other upgrades carry greater risks in exchange for stronger benefits.
Characters also have unique finishing moves capable of clearing large groups of enemies. These attacks can be modified through upgrades, allowing players to reduce their cooldowns or trade longer activation times for additional damage.
Aiming has been planning a console adaptation since the anime began airing three years ago. The studio currently operates The Eminence in Shadow: Master of Garden, a mobile and PC RPG based on the same franchise, but Phantom Echoes is being developed as a full action game rather than another version of the existing gacha title.
The game will also tell an original story supervised by series creator Daisuke Aizawa and produced in collaboration with Kadokawa. Aiming says the story connects directly to the main series.
Its first major mystery concerns Delta, who is shown bloodied and crucified in the trailer. Shadow appears to be responsible for her condition, although anyone familiar with Cid Kagenou should probably wait for the full context before assuming he suddenly became competent enough to understand what was happening around him.
The announcement is timed to accompany The Eminence in Shadow: Lost Echoes, the anime film scheduled for 2027. Neither project has a specific release date.
