How to Defeat All Stygian Onslaught Bosses in Genshin Impact Version 7.1
Having trouble completing the Stygian Onslaught? This guide will help you analyze the bosses' core mechanic and list out the recommended teams.
Stygian Onslaught is the hardest end-game in Genshin Impact, surpassing even Spiral Abyss because of the extremely high HP pool on each of the bosses in Dire difficulty.
In Genshin Impact version 7.1, Travelers will face Battle-Hardened Domovoy Sculptor, Secret Source Automaton: Overseer Device, and Guardian Blade of Drifting Snow.
Each bosses in Stygian Onslaught are usually to promote the current character banners, and this one is no different. This guide will help you with all the mechanics, the best teams to face these enemies, and other team examples that can also do well.
How to Defeat Battle-Hardened Domovoy Sculptor

Battle Mechanics (Difficulty 1 - 4)
Battle-Hardened Domovoy Sculptor has a 30% Cryo and Anemo RES. Ironically, this boss is for Vesna, the new Anemo character in version 7.1, and you can use her here as long as you bring one character or artifact set that reduce RES.

The core mechanic here is the ice sculpture. At certain time, the boss will summon an ice block, and you have 4 seconds to use a Stellar-Glimmer reaction on the block to ensure it will not turn into a Jack Frost. If you fail to do so, the Jack Frost will be sculpted, and it will deal an extremely high damage (you must avoid it, don't try to tank even if you have a shield).
Tips: If the ice block got hit by a Stellar reaction, it will turn into small animals, which is practically harmless. So you really need Stellar team for this boss.
Battle Mechanics (Difficulty 5 & 6)

In Fearless and Dire difficulty, the boss has 90% Cryo and Anemo RES. In addition, if you manage to prevent the ice block from turning into Jack Frost, the mini explosion will deal 499,999 Physical DMG to the boss twice, totalling up to almost 1,000,000 Physical DMG.
Another really important note, if both explosions hit the boss, it will change the overall RES that he has. Each explosion will reduce 25% Anemo RES and 20% other Elemental and Physical RES. This can stacks up to 3 times (meaning 3 explosions from 3 ice blocks).
Team Recommendations

There are no other option than using a Stellar-Glimmer teams. Team outside of these reactions will have an extremely hard time to complete the battle, unless you're going only for 3rd difficulty for the Primogem rewards. Thankfully, we got Cryo MC for free, and they deal good damage too if built properly!
How to Defeat Secret Source Automaton: Overseer Device

Battle Mechanics (Difficulty 1 - 4)

Once you start the battle in this game mode, the Secret Source Automaton: Overseer Device will immediately enter a state of unleashing its Spinning Ultimate ATK, which is the core mechanic. During this state, it has an extremely high RES of 210% for all elements!

If there is a Natlan character in your team and they use the Nightsoul Blessing state, the boss will enter the offensive state; where all its RES will become 50%, and they will unleash extremely strong water pillars that can shred your shield like cheese.

Now if you don't have a Natlan character, you need to depend on Cryo character - preferably a high-frequency attacker) as their Cryo attacks can reduce the Flow Momentum bar (the circle icon below the boss HP bar). Keep in mind that the more points the boss has in the Flow Momentum bar, the higher damage it can do. Thus, what you need to do is REDUCE the Flow Momentum bar (Important thing need to be said twice).
By using high-frequency Cryo attacks and reducing the Flow Momentum until it reaches less than 7%, the boss will stop using the Spinning Ultimate attack, reducing its own resistance to -40% Cryo RES and 0% RES for other elements.
Battle Mechanics (Difficulty 5 & 6)
For Fearless and Dire difficulty, the difference is the numbers.
- When the Secret Source Automaton: Overseer Device enter the Ultimate state, its resistance is 270% RES for all elements.
- When using Nightsoul-Blessing, boss will stop enter offensive state, and their RES will become 110%.
- When you reduce the Flow Momentum to below 7%, its resistance will be reduced into -30% Cryo RES and 30% RES for other elements.

Another special thing to note is that you interrupt its Ultimate skill for the first time, a large number of Elemental Particles will drop, and it will be a huge help for your team who depends more on Elemental Burst.
Team Recommendations

Although Natlan team can complete the boss in Difficulty 1-4, it might be hard if you're attempting Diff 5 as the resistances will still be high when the boss is in the offensive state. Of course, this team can still be used if you bring a character that can further reduce the boss' certain RES! Just make sure to avoid the incoming water pillars as their successive attacks can definitely kill even your most tankiest characters.
The best strategy is definitely using a high-frequency Cryo character to reduce the Flow Momentum bar ASAP so the total resistance will go down, and your team can deal huge damage.
How to Defeat Guardian Blade of Drifting Snow

Battle Mechanics (Difficulty 1 - 4)

If you can tell from her design, yes, she has a 50% Cryo RES. The core mechanic for Guardian Blade of Drifting Snow is pretty simple as when her health is low, she will enter an ice coffin with 20-unit Cryo shield.
The normal way to destroy that coffin is using Pyro or Electro attacks. But the best method is definitely using Stellar-Glimmer reactions (Yes, we have two Stygian Onslaught bosses that likes Stellar-Glimmer). With the new reaction, the shield-breaking efficiency of Anemo or Electro elements are increased by 300%.

If the shield is broken, the boss will lose 20% of her HP, be paralyzed for 10 seconds, and all her resistances will be reduced by 50%. If the shield is not broken, she will recover some HP and unleashing powerful follow-up attacks.
Battle Mechanics (Difficulty 5 & 6)
For the Fearless and Dire difficulty, the difference is it will significantly increase the HP and ATK of the boss. In addition of the following:
- When HP drops to 81%, she will enter the ice coffin with 42-unit Cryo shield (Yes, much faster and with stronger shield too). In addition, her Cryo RES will be reduced to 10% only.
- If the shield is broken, the boss will lose 10% of her HP.

Last but not least, the advantage of using Stellar-Glimmer reactions! If you use Stellar reaction on the ice coffin, it will convert into a Barrier shield equal to 15% of her HP, which can be directly broken using any damage.
If the shield is successfully broken, in addition to the original 10% HP deduction, the boss will also deduct an additional 60% of the damage receive from the Barrier shield, not exceeding 19% of the maximum health.
Team Recommendations

Although it is recommended to use the Stellar-Glimmer reactions, but teams with high-frequency Pyro and Electro elemental attacks are actually good enough for the stage, especially Burning team.
