Kingdom Hearts Collection Launches Natively on Switch 2, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S
Kingdom Hearts is finally going native on Switch 2. The new collection includes Re Mind, with an owner discount and some important save-transfer limits.
Key Takeaways
- Kingdom Hearts Collection [I~III] is out on Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and the Microsoft Store on Windows.
- The console releases run natively. The original Switch also gets a native version of HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX.
- Eligible digital owners get 50% off qualifying purchases; save transfers are supported only from Switch cloud versions to Switch 2.
Kingdom Hearts Collection [I~III] is out today, October 8, on Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC through the Microsoft Store on Windows.
Square Enix says the current-generation console releases run natively, bringing Sora’s adventures to Switch 2 without cloud streaming.
There’s something for original Switch owners, too: Kingdom Hearts -HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX- is now available natively on that system. That announcement covers the first compilation; the full new collection is available on Switch 2.
For Nintendo players, that’s the big news here. These releases offer a way to play locally as Square prepares to shut down the older Switch cloud service next year.
What’s Included in Kingdom Hearts Collection [I~III]?
The bundle contains three packages, which are also sold separately:
| Package | Included content |
|---|---|
| HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX | Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, Re:Chain of Memories, Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix and Birth by Sleep Final Mix, plus HD cutscene compilations of 358/2 Days and Re:coded. |
| HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue | Dream Drop Distance HD, 0.2 Birth by Sleep – A fragmentary passage – and the χ Back Cover movie. |
| Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind | Kingdom Hearts III and its Re Mind DLC. |
The distinction matters if you’re coming in fresh: 358/2 Days and Re:coded are represented by cutscene compilations here. Their original playable versions aren’t included.
Square lists the individual packages as digital releases and the collection in physical and digital editions. The official collection page lists physical options for Switch 2 and PS5.
Owner Discounts and Save Transfers Have Different Rules
Eligible owners of the digital Switch cloud, PS4 or Xbox One versions can receive a 50% discount on qualifying digital purchases for Switch 2, PS5 or Xbox Series X|S.
Check Square Enix’s collection page for the ownership requirements attached to each package.
However, save transfers are supported only from the Switch cloud versions to Switch 2. Square says transfers aren’t supported for the other platforms. The Xbox One owner discount also excludes regions served exclusively by the Microsoft Windows Store.
Switch cloud sales ended on June 9. The service itself shuts down on June 9, 2027, at 7:59 a.m. Pacific.
Purchasing the collection or Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind also includes a platform-specific Keyblade: Long Night on Switch 2, Midnight Blue on PS5 and Phantom Green on Xbox Series X|S. Square’s offer covers physical and digital purchases on Switch 2 and PS5, and digital purchases on Xbox.
