Did Taira and Azuma End Up Together?

Did Taira and Azuma end up together at the end of You and I Are Polar Opposites?

Well, no. But, in my opinion, that's for the best (not in the way you think, though).

At the end of You and I Are Polar Opposites, Taira and Azuma don't end up as a confirmed couple. But, it's clear they both have feelings for each other and are spending more time together.

They probably will eventually become a couple in their own universe, but the end of the series shows them navigating life as very close friends in love with each other who haven't confessed yet.

The Car Scene Shows They Spend a Lot of Alone Time Together

In the final episode (Season 2, Episode 13: Christmas Eve), Azuma is shown picking Taira up in her car and taking him somewhere while they're both jamming out to his playlist.

This seems to be a regular occurence between these two lovebirds, as Taira has stopped being so gloomy and is more confident in his relationship with Taira.

She also cut her hair and looks more comfortable with Taira as during the last episodes she was very nervous and jittery around Taira, believing they wouldn't see each other again after graduation.

They honestly look like two college students on a soft launch. After all, Taira knows how Azuma feels.

They're Still a Work in Progress

A lot of romance fans, like myself, do get frustrated when a popular couple enters the implied relationship mode.

I was especially mad many years ago when Toradora ended and we didn't get like some super obvious sign Taiga and Ryuuji was officially, officially dating (I was young, okay. They kissed like 100 times but it wasn't enough).

At first, I was a bit disappointed feeling this couple was unresolved, but it honestly worked out for the better. Here's why I think that.

Suzuki and Tani literally got together in the second episode, which is warp speed for a romance anime. My favorite couple Yamada and Nishi took quite a bit but eventually got there.

I didn't care it took so many episodes between those two to date. It absolutely was worth the wait.

Alright, enough of that. This is about Taira and Azuma.

Anyway, why should Azuma and Taira have to rush anything? Azuma realized she liked Taira by the end of Season 2. Taira reciprocated his feelings a bit after that.

He had some severe issues he had to work out on his own, and I'm glad he eventually gave himself enough grace to overcome his insecurities and accept Azuma's feelings.

Now, let's cut them some slack and just imagine they will spend time together, find their way, and date like any other normal couple.

I was really glad Taira didn't blow it and just leave for college without even seeing Azuma again. He came up clutch there because Azuma was satisfied with just loving him and was ready to let him go.

Now, they have a chance to be together. I can use my imagination and hope they found their way.
